Unfair compromises

I've been knitting busily away on the sockpalooza socks that are on my needles right now. I've just hit the gusset on sock 2, and intellectually, I know they'll be done by Aug. 2. But I'm not convinced, because they're not done right now.

I was explaining this to the Fool last night, and he helpfully pointed something out, a little time management hint, if you will.

He said: "Well, maybe you should just work on your sock until it's done ... and until then, I'll read Harry Potter. You can have it when you finish your sock."

I wonder if I can knit the rest of this thing before midnight?

Wow, that's tough. I don't know if that's motivation or blackmail. Thin thin line there. Knit like the wind.

I know I can read faster than I can knit, so I am going to read Harry tonight, and then knit all of next week. I know I can get my socks done in time, if my reading is done. If my reading is not done, then I will not be able to concentrate on knitting. Of course, Harry has been in my life longer than knitting has been in my life.

Why not get 2 books? lucky for me hubby hasn't read the hp books and I'm strongly hoping that "in transit to final destination" since 11am today on UPS means I may not even have to wait until midnight.

hubby always buys 2 potters so we can read at the same time. He reads too slow and can't keep his mouth shut! Besides if you have 2 you can keep one for rereads and one for for the collection!

Oh, that's just evil! But smart. Is the Fool a cat?

So Helpful.

Who needs that kind of help!?

Speaking of Potteritis, we are going to buy two copies: one paper, one book on cd. Larry wants to read the actual book and I want to listen, so we have to get both!

That's some good incentive to finish . . .

Good luck!

Oooh, that sounds like a tricksy agreement.

Unlike knitting, I could not put the newest HP book down until I finished it. Hopefully he is not the kind of reader who says "I know what happens, and you don't...nan a nan a nan a!"
