Olympic knitting continues apace

While the Fool regales you with tales of hats and socks, I'm slogging along on Eris. I had a small amount of the collar knitted, but it lay dormant for a while. So that became the Knitting Olympics project, especially as in good conscience, I can't start anything with so many UFOs lying around.
Below, that's the collar looked like after some car knitting on the way to Cincinnati.
There's a tricky bit in the middle where you have to pick up stitches from left to right to knit the second half. After you do it and tear it out three times, it's not so hard.

Last night was the third men's knitting night, which happened to coincide with Valentine's Day. We're not so much for celebrating holidays because Hallmark tells us to, and besides, I believe that all the flowers and chocolate on Feb. 14 won't make up for being a dillweed the other 364 days of the year, but that said ....
Several of my coworkers thought the Fool was crazy for making any plans on V-Day that didn't include me, (actually, he's on the phone with his mom now, and I can tell she's berating him) but I didn't mind. I got some dinner, watched some TV and spent a quiet night knitting.
But I was still very pleased when I came home and found this on the table:

I can't wait to get back to socks....

I bet Jon is glad he was only a dillweed 300 days last year!

I think, rather than cast it in terms of Jon abandoning you, you might praise him for his steadfast husbandry of a newborn group. His dedication will help the group survive its fragile infancy.

I, for one, thank you, Meg, for the sacrifices you are making in hopes of seeing our dream come true. You are a goddess.

Can you bring your sock book with you to the MCA? I'd like to see if it is one I could learn from. Aren't they addictive? my second pair is on the pins...made from Cascade Fixation which is a cotton blend. Ta.
Yes. Remind us a little closer, and we'll bring that one and the Alice Starmore book with the two cool kids' sweaters in it.

That's the advantage of a common hobby - makes gift shopping way easier. And yes, Thorn, you can touch the Mighty Sock Book. I'll even show you the pattern that says "frog".

Fool: are you talking about the Starmore Celtic Colection? I was going through my books the other day and came across it. I like the two kids sweaters -- I don't count the last two in the book -- even that boys sweater was too fem for most girls I know -- but the two celtic knot patterns were nice.

I'm having Lorna Doone's and Pepsi for breakfast...thank you both very much! Auld Reekie Forever!
Aidan, that's the one. They are nice patterns, but all of the women are wearing too much makeup.

Lorna Doones and Pepsi sounds like a breakfast of champions.

I'm obviously undercaffeinated and need more tea, but Aidan's last comment, which started "Fool..." mutated into a terrible Mr. T. imitation in my head and now I can't stop .... "Fool! You talkin' 'bout Alice Starmore?" Oh, gods, the hilarity ....
You know, it's okay to call me Jonathan on the web. I'm not really trying to hide my identity or anything...

I pity the fool that....

HA HA HA HA HHHAAAA

April, yes! that's the Mr. T. quote I was trying to remember ... that's what happens when I try thinking before tea.

Fool: Of course, I COULD call you by your name, but that wouldn't be quite as much fun. It's your moniker...live with it!

Unless you'd rather be called "Dillweed"?
