Oi! Fiber festival!

Chicago area fiber festival!
The Fool and I plan to be festive first thing Sunday.

Saturday, we have another kind of festival to go to.
Bet there's going to be sheep at that one too.

Will there be Kubb games? Oh, wait...that's a Viking game, never mind.

We'll be playing Kubb at the Indiana Dunes on July 21st. It's the Second Annual Kubb Tournament during the NIPA (Northwest Indiana Pagan Assoc.)annual campout.

Yes! Viking games! We'll be going by the team name, "Dos Lesbos". :)

OK ... I've totally got to look up the rules to your crazy Viking game. I was thinking last night that lawn bowling might be a nice way to use the yard, but perhaps not.

My family plays Bocce Ball all the time, but trust me...Kubb is so much better. Kubb is especially fun when you have friends like ours who take competition seriously and come up with hysterical "team uniforms" that may or may not include huge plastic Viking Hats, short shorts and knee socks.

We've also toyed with the idea of taking this one guy's seriously ancient pair of Arizona Birkenstocks, that he melted on the campfire one year, and getting them bronzed as the trophy to be passed on from year to year.

The latest idea, is to award the "trophy" as two of our group are playing something on their bagpipes...they don't seem to care that that's not very Nordic. We'll see how that pans out. LOL!
